Dreams really do come true. Thank You!

It was 16 years ago in January (2004) that I got this idea to start The Cape Cod Dog. My plan was to get started at the Wellfleet Flea Market to test market my business idea. From day 1, we had our logo where the dog's tail is shaped like Cape Cod. And what an amazing journey life has been since. Did I mention that I was open year 'round...on the outer Cape? How did I make my dream come true? With the love and support of my entire family. My husband didn't think I was crazy and 100% supported my crazy idea from day one. He even thought of the name! (Yes, full credit goes to him). My Mom ALWAYS had my back no matter what.

When I asked her if she thought it was a crazy idea, she said "I KNOW you can do it. How can I help?" And then there is my brother, step-son, nephews, sister in-law, mother in-law and my friends; everyone of them supported me every step of the way. Working hard, helping with events, book-signings, parades, Santa, Easter & Halloween photos, and who can forget Madison in her glitter tutu's! Yes it was work, but we had so much fun along the way.

And then there is all of you! The amazing animal community that welcomed me with open-arms. YOU helped make my dream come true. For without all of you, this never could have happened. The love and support of the Eastham community and it's animal lovers is like nothing I thought possible. The thousands of dogs (and sometimes cats, pigs, guinea pigs, rabbits and goats), that have come through my doors to say hi, get a belly rub & a treat, that has been my greatest joy.

So now comes the hard part. Most of you know that I have been working towards selling my business and the beautiful building that houses it. I did not come to this decision lightly, but it is time for me to take a step back from retail. In the end, we found a buyer for the building only and not for the business. As the saying goes "all good things must come to an end". Things are suddenly moving so quickly that I can hardly keep up.

This is bittersweet for me, but although I am closing one door, another one will surely open soon. I look forward to spending more time with my husband traveling in our RV, hiking & taking photos. When the dust settles from this whirlwind year, I will go find a job (let me know if you are hiring). You just never know where I will pop up! So, from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU! This is not goodbye, it's just goodbye for now.

We will keep our Facebook page going so please continue to share your photos and stories. I will share a few of mine as well.
